Pothole Gardens

One of my favorite blogs brought these lovely pothole gardens to my attention, and I'm fascinated. And inspired. And can't stop looking at them. Pete Dungey is the mastermind behind it all and he said, "If we planted one of those in every hole, it would be like a forest in the road", and I just think that is beautiful.

I have to say that the whole idea IS very lovely and that I wish more people would plant gardens and work to help make our world a more beautiful place.

However, I also find it to be wildly impractical - not to mention dangerous (at least in my not so suburban neighborhood). A sweet idea, with such good intention, though.

Practically, though, potholes are generally in places that take on a whole lot of traffic. The likelihood that each and every driver will swerve out of the way in hopes of avoiding one of these sweet little gardens is low, and swerving in general isn't any good in driving, usually. And at night who will even think to be watching to avoid a garden? So pothole garden survival outlook, will be grim, I'd say. Lastly, planting them in the first place? Not safe!

Gosh, I feel like such an Eyore in pointing out the negatives :( It is a sweet idea, though, Jenna!

Yes, I agree. Not practical, very true. Beautiful? Absolutely. :) Just something I found pleasing to my eye. No harm in being an Eyore.. he was my favorite Pooh character after all. :)
